Chocolate churro smoothie

Few things go together better than a churro and chocolate. But a healthy, smoothie version of such a combo? Is that even possible? It is now!

A fried dough treat from Spain and Portugal that is typically dipped into cinnamon and sugar, a churro is often dipped into melted chocolate for a complete experience. In this smoothie, the sweetness and flavor is matched by several healthy natural ingredients, along with our new superstar collagen powder (see below).

Ingredients for a Chocolate Churro Smoothie

To get the churro sweetness, flavor and a little bit of texture, we go with a magical blend of ingredients. A frozen banana and maple syrup take care of the sweetness, along with plenty of potassium and antioxidants.

The chocolate flavor comes via cocoa powder and cacao nibs, the latter of which is optional. Both are full of polyphenols and have more antioxidant activity than tea.

Almond butter and Greek yogurt add some healthy fats and even some probiotics as well as important texture that make this chocolate churro smoothie so smooth and hearty. Unsweetened cashew milk (or almond milk) also contribute in this regard.

Oats also help with the texture, but they’re a great source of fiber, trace minerals and even plant-based protein.

Lastly, the superstar ingredient is Multi Collagen Advanced Lean Powder, with a light cinnamon flavor coming from benefit-rich ceylon. (Additional cinnamon is also requested in the recipe to make more churro-like. MCA Lean is also used in our how to make the perfect protein shake article and Mexican chocolate cake recipe.)

Why ceylon cinnamon? Lighter colored with a more delicate, citrusy taste, it features superior flavor, quality and benefits, including for promoting a healthy weight and supporting healthy inflammation levels.

A collagen powder from 10 food-based sources, Multi Collagen Advanced Lean Powder is a healthy weight management* supplement designed to help you burn calories and boost your metabolism. It features a proprietary fat loss blend, and select ingredients are backed by multiple clinical studies.

*In addition to a healthy diet and lifestyle, including regular exercise.

How to Make a Chocolate Churro Smoothie

This one is easy. Simply add all the ingredients, save the cacao nibs, into a high-speed blender. That the banana, oats, cinnamon, cocoa powder, Multi Collagen Advanced Lean, almond butter, Greek yogurt, maple syrup, cashew milk and ice. The cinnamon, for maximum benefits, is ideally ceylon.

If you seek to lower the calorie count, you can opt out of the oats, almond butter or yogurt, and maple syrup. But just know that some of the flavor and texture will also leave!

Blend on high for two to three minutes, until everything is smooth and fully combined. Serve into a glass or two, then stir in the optional cacao nibs.
