The Feed & Seed Program
We're changing up the way we use food waste to transform the way we farm. Our team partners with grocery stores, health food stores, markets, hotels and more to repurpose their food scraps, which helps feed animals on our farms, build back topsoil and ensure the future of farming.
In the world today, it’s estimated that 30-40% of all food is wasted; much of it going into landfills and contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. A lot of this food waste is perfectly good, but stores are required to get rid of it because of expiration dates or blemishes.
With the help of our partners, we collect their food scraps and deposit them on our Certified Organic, Regenerative farms to feed our animals, help build topsoil and add to our living seed bank. This approach reduces waste, increases biodiversity and helps ensure the future of farming.
The food that we can't eat becomes food for other animals, food for the soil and the seeds from those food scraps can become our food again. By rethinking our consumption and disposal of food, we can help the environment and bottom lines.
Our Feed & Seed Program was launched in October 2021 and is seeing tremendous growth each year. By 2030, we hope to recycle 7,500,000 million pounds of food scraps that will help feed animals, build back soil and ensure the future of farming.
