A wellness trend that shows no signs of fading is juicing. You get a concentrated number of nutrients from a host of healthy ingredients, and all you need is a juicer. You can also use a high-speed blender and then strain the pulp through a mesh sieve (twice to get all the juice out).
The best juice recipes are also beautiful, representing multiple colors such as green, red and yellow. They can be a great way to start the day, on an empty stomach that’s ready to make use of those nutrients.
Here are 10 easy juicing recipes, several from our expert recipe developer Holly Darnell, RD. Most of these recipes will stay good in the refrigerator for one to two days.
Green juice recipes remain sought after because they're loaded with nutrients and can kick-start a day of healthy eating. If you use the right ingredients, they can also be surprisingly tasty.
Ingredients:
4 stalks celery
½ English cucumber
1 green apple, cored
1 bunch lacinato kale, roughly chopped (about 2 cups, de-stemmed)
2 cups packed spinach
1 bunch parsley (about 12 sprigs)
1 two-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled
1 medium lemon
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 scoop Ancient Nutrition SuperGreens
½ cup coconut water or regular water*
* If juicing, omit the coconut water.
Directions:
If using a juicer, juice celery, cucumber, apple, kale, spinach, parsley, ginger, and lemon. Add the juice to a medium-sized mixing bowl and whisk in SuperGreens until fully combined. Omit coconut water addition when juicing.
In a high-speed blender, add celery, cucumber, apple, kale, spinach, parsley, ginger, lemon, cayenne, SuperGreens and coconut water. Strain through a mesh sieve twice to remove pulp.
Add to a glass with ice to drink immediately or chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
