Homemade Cold Brewed Iced Coffee
By Holly Darnell, RD

Cold brew coffee. It's a trend that is not going away anytime soon. It's available at coffee shops, in cans and bottles, and now even as a more common flavor for food products or supplements (including our own collagen protein).
Want to learn how to make cold brew coffee at home? You've come to the right place, for this cold brewed iced coffee recipe goes beyond just a strong cup of joe. It includes the groundbreaking Multi Collagen Protein Cold Brew flavor for skin, gut and joint benefits on top of giving your morning or afternoon the energy boost you crave.
While regular coffee essentially relies on boiling hot water to release the flavor (and caffeine!) of coffee beans, such as in a classic French press coffee, the ground beans of cold brew coffee are simply steeped in cold water for 12 to 24 hours.
Why did this become popular? Purportedly because such a method produces a less bitter/acidic coffee flavor compared to hot coffee. It's also slightly sweeter and smoother than iced coffee.
Is cold brew the strongest coffee? Not necessarily. While cold brew uses more coffee beans than hot coffee, usually it's lower in caffeine content because more caffeine is extracted when brewed with very hot water. However, if you used vastly more coffee beans in a cold brew mixture without too much water, the cold brew would be stronger.
Meanwhile, compared to iced coffee, cold brew can often be higher in caffeine.
First and foremost is the Multi Collagen Protein Cold Brew. This unsweetened cold brew flavor was designed to bring coffee and collagen together under one lid. Mild in boldness and offering a low to moderate caffeine level (only 42 mg per serving), our cold brew flavor mixes well with any type of milk, including plant-based milks.
It's also more than just collagen, as its clinically studied ingredients are proven to deliver real results, such as reduces knee stiffness and joint discomfort in a week, improving appearance of crow's feet after 28 days, improving exercise recovery by 56 percent, and promoting healthy hair thickness and growth while reducing hair breakage. Wow.
This recipe marries our Cold Brew Multi Collagen Protein with a homemade cold brewed coffee and oat milk for a delicious, energizing way to start your day.
Thankfully, it's very easy to make this iced collagen coffee. The night before, stir together the coffee grounds and one-and-a-half cups of cold, filtered water in a jar. Cover and let rest at room temperature overnight, for at least 12 hours.
The next morning, strain the mixture twice through a coffee filter or a fine-mesh sieve lined with a cheesecloth evenly into two large, tall glasses. Next add the oat milk evenly into the glasses and one scoop of collagen cold brew each. Use a spoon to mix, or even better, a frother. (Or just use a blender for all of the above).
Add a few ice cubes and enjoy. If it seems too strong, dilute with a little water and stir.

How to Hydrate Skin
Even if you employ a daily skincare routine, many of us get frustrated with the results. It’s hard to be happy with the way your skin looks if it’s occasionally dry, dull or sensitive, which is why skin hydration is so important. With loads of serums, moisturizers and beauty routines (such as the new trend called skin cycling) available, it’s difficult to know what really hydrates skin versus what’s a waste of your money and time.
