Lavender essential oil is the most used essential oil in the world today, but the uses of lavender were actually discovered over 2,500 years ago. For centuries, it's been used both cosmetically and topically in therapeutic ways to support overall beauty and health.
Historically, the Egyptians used lavender for mummification and as a perfume. In fact, when King Tut's tomb was opened in 1923, there was said to be a faint scent of lavender that could still be detected after 3,000 years.
The Romans used lavender oil for bathing, cooking and purifying the air. And in the Bible, lavender oil was among the aromatics used for anointing and prayers for healing.
Because lavender oil contains such versatile properties and is gentle enough to apply directly to the skin (according to directions), it’s considered a must-have oil, especially if you are just getting started with adding essential oils to your wellness routine.
Today, lavender is one of the most popular essential oils in the world. And for good reason. People are beginning to catch on to lavender oil uses, for your body as well as your home.

With these lavender oil benefits in mind, try using the oil at home for an upliftinig scent, home cleanser and more. Here are some ideas on how to use lavender oil for sleep, skin, hair and more:
Diffuse about 5 drops of lavender essential at home to help create a calming environment. It also works as a non-toxic air freshener that leaves any room with a clean aroma.
Add 1-2 drops of lavender to your pillow or add about 5 drops to a spray bottle filled with water and spritz it on your pillow and sheets to help set the stage for a restful night’s sleep.
Rub 1 drop of lavender into the bottoms of your feet to help promote a soothing experience.
Add 2-3 drops of lavender to warm bath water for a relaxing night in. Blending it with 1-2 drops of frankincense oil is a great option for a calming experience that’s soothing for your skin, too.
Add about 5 drops of lavender oil to a spray bottle filled with water for a non-toxic household cleaner. Oils that blend well with lavender and help to clean surfaces of the home include frankincense, lemon and tea tree.
Add 1 drop of lavender to your wrists and back of neck as a DIY “perfume” with a clean, floral scent.
Combine 2-3 drops of lavender oil with coconut oil or jojoba oil and massage the mixture into your hair as a DIY hair mask. Wash and rinse your hair afterwards.
