4th of July Mocktail
By Holly Darnell, RD
June 28, 2024
When the Fourth of July falls mid-week, as it does this year, many of us would prefer a mocktail over a cocktail. And while you have a wide range of summer mocktails to choose from these days, we’ve concocted a 4th of July mocktail that will blow your socks off (and your guests minds)!
Powered by Multi Collagen Advanced Hydrate and some summer fruit, it’s the perfect refreshing and hydrating drink for this time of year. At 125 calories, it also contains 10 grams of protein and 161 milligrams of vitamin C (nearly 200 percent your Daily Value).
Plus, it looks the part for the 4th of July, with a blend of red, white and blue … and is delicious. Let’s find out how to make it!
The high amount of vitamin C and antioxidants come from the multiple fruit ingredients, including in whole form and juice. Blueberries, lime and lemon juice, strawberries and raspberries. All make for a beautiful 4th of July drink as well.
Sparking water is the base liquid, as you want some bubbles to make fun to sip as well as help fill you up.
Lastly, Multi Collagen Advanced Hydrate (berry flavor) is an electrolyte-filled powder that also features 10 types of collagen from 10 food-based sources. And its taste is fantastics.
With two times the electrolytes vs. leading sports drinks, it provides rapid skin and body hydration. Meanwhile, the collagen helps reduce joint discomfort and stiffness, helps improve flexibility, and improves exercise recovery by over 50 percent.
First, get out a cocktail shaker or a big pint glass and a colander. Add blueberries and mint to the shaker or glass, then muddle the blueberries and mint until blueberries are smashed and flavors are released.
What is a muddler? It’s typically a long, thick wooden stick that looks like a long pestle or miniature bat. It can also be made from stainless steel. If you don’t have one, simply use the handle from a wooden spoon.
Next, get ready to juice up. Juice the limes and lemon, and add to the mixture. Then add some ice and shake well, at least for 20 seconds to chill the entire batch.
Strain the mocktail into a medium bowl, then add one scoop of the hydrate powder. Use a high-speed hand mixer or handheld brother, unless all clumps are gone.
Add ice along with the berries to a drinking glass. Pour the mocktail mixture into the glass and top with sparkling water. Optionally, top with additional berries.
