How to Make Iced Coffee (with Foam and Protein)
By Holly Darnell, RD
August 9, 2024
The easiest and most summery coffee drink is the iced coffee. But most versions add tons of dairy and sugar. So how to make iced coffee healthy … and even one that can help you manage a healthy weight? See below.
The star ingredient in this iced coffee is Multi Collagen Advanced Lean, an incredibly popular collagen powder made from 10 food-based sources. With its light cinnamon flavor that mixes well with coffee, it’s a healthy weight management* supplement designed to help you burn calories and boost your metabolism.
It features a proprietary fat loss blend that includes organic ashwagandha root extract and organic ceylon cinnamon, both of which are backed by multiple clinical studies. These ingredients promote fat loss*, reduce body fat percentage*, increase strength*, boost energy and help reduce stress-induced food cravings.
Meanwhile, the collagen in this supplement helps support skin health (including improving skin elasticity and reduced crow’s feet), joint health (including improving exercise recovery and reducing knee stiffness) and gut health (including improving the gut lining).
Otherwise, of course, the right kind of coffee is critical. You can use cold brew that you make yourself, or you can make your own coffee and refrigerate it before using in this recipe. A great version for an iced coffee is the French press, as it delivers a consistently strong coffee.
Almond milk is the plant-based coffee du jour, as it foams very well. If you can tolerate dairy, consider using high-protein Fairlife milk that contains less milk sugar and zero lactose. It’s also slightly thicker and creamier than regular milk.
All of these ingredients add up to a great high-protein iced coffee, with just 5 grams of carbs, 1 grams of fat and 15 grams of protein. Each serving is around 93 calories. If you used Fairlife milk, that'll add a little more fat and calories.
*In addition to a healthy diet and lifestyle, including regular exercise.
In a small saucepan, add one-fourth cup of water. Place the heat on high and bring water to a full rolling boil.
Add a scoop of the Lean powder to a Mason jar, and add in two tablespoons of boiling water to the jar as well. Use a handheld brother to blend until full combined.
Next add the almond milk (or Fairlife milk) to the Masor jar. Insert the milk frother so the tip of the wand is close to the bottom of the cup. Place speed on high and move the frother up and down until the milk has doubled in volume and mixture has thickened.
Lastly, fill a glass with ice cubes. Add in the coffee along with optional maple syrup and stir. Top with the almond milk foam.
