Ancient Nutrition’s 2024 Impact Report

Impact report

Ancient Nutrition began with a desire to create products that didn’t exist on the market: Powerful superfood supplements that married ancient wisdom and modern science. Today, we have grown into so much more.

Now our mission is to harness history’s most powerful superfoods for your health and the planet. This includes helping to fill gaps in the modern diet.

Who we are goes beyond supplements. We embrace our responsibility to the planet we all share, which is why we are dedicated to our R.A.N.C.H. Project — our commitment to Regenerative Agriculture, Nutrition and Climate Health.

Why do so many people lack the nutrition they got through diet alone just a few generations ago? Conventional farming. This strips the soil of essential nutrients and releases greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. It’s wasteful, dangerous and is harming our health by growing food without optimal nutrition.

There’s a better way: regenerative agriculture. Based on centuries-old farming practices, regenerative agriculture aims to enrich the soil and help stall or reverse climate change. This is done by rebuilding soil organic matter and restoring soil biodiversity, something that is significantly lacking in conventional agriculture.

After all, our industry is at a crossroads. We cannot continue to operate business as usual. Climate impacts, biodiversity loss, soil degradation and greenhouse gas emissions all threaten the efficacy of nutrition products and the health of the planet and its denizens (people and all living creatures).

Sustainability is not enough. We must embrace regenerative practices to help farmers develop more resilient systems, restoring the land and bringing social and environmental benefits along with it.

Along those lines, we launched our industry’s first-ever Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC™) line of products. These include probiotics, herbals and condition-specific formulas, which source 37 ROC™ ingredients.

Our hope is that our impact report is an example for those that want to blaze a new, ancient path forward. Making this investment now will benefit the soil, animals, plants and people, not just on our land but everyone who comes in contact with any of our products.

We are dedicated to regenerative methods that foster richer soil, cleaner air, and healthier ingredients. Ultimately, that’s how we will save the world with superfoods.

2024 overview of our impact

Three years ago, we made bold commitments: to transform thousands of acres into regenerative farmland, to revolutionize our supply chain and to demonstrate that ancient wisdom could solve modern challenges. Today, we're proud to say we've met and exceeded every goal we set for 2024.

More importantly, we've watched as the "impossible" has become inevitable. What started as innovation has matured into leadership. The R.A.N.C.H. Project is no longer just our vision — it's become a blueprint being studied and replicated across the country. Our perennial food forests are thriving, our soil carbon measurements have exceeded projections, and our regenerative farming practices are producing yields that rival conventional agriculture while rebuilding ecosystems.

Perhaps most significantly, we're no longer alone in this journey. The movement we helped kindle has caught fire. Major agricultural players are now following our lead, implementing regenerative practices we champion. Farmers are reaching out to learn from our experience. We've transitioned from being voices crying out alone in the wilderness to being trusted guides for an industry in transformation.

This shift from innovators to leaders brings new responsibilities. Our focus now extends beyond our own land to helping others succeed in their regenerative journeys. We're expanding our farmer training programs, sharing our data more widely and building networks to support others in this transition. Leadership isn't just about being first – it's about ensuring others can follow.

As we look to the future, we see tremendous opportunity. The groundwork we've laid over these past years has created a foundation for exponential impact. Our successes have proven that regenerative agriculture isn't just a feel-good story — it's a viable path to healing our planet while building a resilient food system.

The ancient wisdom we've championed is becoming modern common sense. The impossible is becoming inevitable. And we're just getting started.

2024 impact goals met

1. Becoming carbon neutral

Goals include building topsoil and becoming carbon neutral through regenerative programs and carbon offsets.

In 2024, we completed a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for 9,109 total tonnes of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) offset. We reduced our emissions internally by consolidating our shipping centers, moving to more sustainable packaging, sourcing ingredients from regenerative farms, and making other changes.

In addition, over 100 products received the climate friendly pledge badge on Amazon.

For 2025, more offset assessments are planned, along with enhanced greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting and reduction goals.

2. Plant a Million Member Food Forest

A 2024 goal was to create a Million Member Regenerative Food Forest of superfood-bearing trees, bushes, vines and shrubs. Overall, 1.5 million total perennial trees, vines, shrubs, plants and pollinator-friendly flowers were planted.

When measured over the next 40 years, these efforts can result in the sequestration of roughly 438,000 metric tons of CO2, the prevention of nearly 51 billion gallons of water runoff, and the removal of 53,000 metric tons of air pollutants.

That’s the equivalent of taking 95,000 cars off the road, filling 77,000 Olympic-sized pools and removing the weight of 8,860 adult male elephants.

3. Repurpose food waste

We met our 2024 goal of transforming 2 million pounds of food waste into feed and a living seed bank. 1.7 million pounds of food waste was collected from our partners.

4. Reduce, reuse, recycle

In 2024, we reduced our plastic waste by 25 percent and transitioned to more sustainable solutions.

We launched XL Bags, which is an environmentally friendly packaging option that is made from recycled plastic. We continued Biobottle, which is a proven technology for reducing plastic pollution in the open environment.

We also launched new innovations in white packaging rather than black and continued to transition out of metallic in labels.

Because we are still creating plastic, we partnered with Plastic Bank, an organization that collects, recycles and re-processes plastic waste. Our partnership with Plastic Bank has prevented the equivalent of 4.5 million plastic bottles and counting from entering the ocean.

For 2025, we are on the lookout for new sustainable packaging solutions. We are evaluating new partners to help us with our plastic offsets.

5. Support nonprofits and key partners

We supported like-minded organizations like Mully Children's Family and Rodale Institute in their missions. We also partnered with Nutrient Density Alliance, Regen Coalition, One Step Closer Packaging Collaborative and California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) grants.

In 2024, Ancient Nutrition completed the three-year research contract with Rodale. R.A.N.C.H. became one of five Regenerative Organic Learning Centers in the U.S. In addition, nearly 16,000 soil samples were taken and this included groundbreaking turmeric nutrient density testing, enhanced soil fertility and nutrient cycling capacity, improved carbon sequestration, and more total microbial biomass.

For 2025, Ancient Nutrition will continue to support Regenerative Organic Certified® farms, source ROC™ ingredients and education, and host climate-related events. We will also partner with Nutrient Density Alliance, One Step Closer, Regen Coalition and Climate Collaborative, among others.

This includes Kiss the Ground, which is an audience-supported nonprofit promoting regeneration and healthy soil as a viable solution for our wellness, water and climate crisis. We will be offering courses to all of our employees along with select retail partners to learn more.
