Fermented Collagen Is Here — and Your Joints and Skin Will Be VERY Excited

Fermentation is nothing new. In fact, the first record of fermented food dates back thousands of years.
This ancient food preservation practice involves beneficial bacteria and yeast breaking down the proteins and sugars in creating a highly digestible food that remains fresh and edible longer. As you can imagine, it came in real handy in the centuries before refrigerators came along.
And while you may already enjoy fermented cabbage (aka real sauerkraut), fermented pickles (lucky you!) and even kimchi and natto, here’s a new one to add to your list: fermented collagen.
Yes, it’s now a thing. (And the crow’s feet around your eyes should be very worried.)
I connected with Ancient Nutrition co-founder and master supplement formulator Jordan Rubin to learn more about this first-of-its-kind collagen capsule that you can’t find anywhere else in the world.
Q: How did you get the idea to ferment collagen?
A: During my own health journey more than 25 years ago, I traveled around the world seeking out the most cutting-edge ways to build up my wellness. At that time, I crossed paths with a scientist who pioneered a natural fermentation process that yielded results that are nothing short of amazing.
Throughout the decades, I utilized fermentation in many formulations because it helps make ingredients such as botanicals and tonic mushrooms more digestible. In fact, Ancient Nutrition co-founder Dr. Josh Axe and I are so passionate about fermentation, we actually own and operate an organic fermentation facility to potentiate herbs and organic mushrooms.
Now, I’m proud to say Ancient Nutrition has been able to apply fermentation to one the most popular ingredients on the planet, collagen. And we’re the first to ever do it. In essence, this natural process uses beneficial microorganisms to "pre-digest" collagen, making it more absorbable, digestible and concentrated.
Q: I already take collagen powder. Should I switch to caps or take both?
A: First, the good news. You can take both powder and caps daily. Multi Collagen Protein powder offers award-winning skin, hair, gut and joint support, along with 9 grams of protein. The Multi Collagen Protein Capsules contain less protein, but offer additional benefits so you can further focus on specific health and beauty interests.
Personally, I take both the powder and capsules daily. I use the powder in my morning smoothie and take a daily serving of three Multi Collagen Capsules before bed as my body goes into rest and repair mode during sleep.
We created this line of Multi Collagen Capsules for two main reasons: 1. To make daily collagen a reality for anyone, including people who don’t want to deal with the fuss of mixing collagen powder into drinks and smoothies.
And … 2. For our fans of our award-winning Multi Collagen Powder, to offer an additional way to get more daily collagen in a super convenient, concentrated form.
Q: Why is it so important to get a daily serving of fermented collagen?
A: Pound for pound, some types of collagen are strong as steel. (No joke.)
Clearly, collagen, the most abundant protein in the human body, plays a major role in keeping us structurally sound by helping to build our ligaments, fascia, tendons and joints. But it also lines the walls of our arteries and digestive tracts.
And despite common knowledge giving milk (and its calcium) all the credit for strong bones, the truth is keeping your collagen intake at optimal levels helps maintain strong-yet-elastic healthy bones.
There’s more collagen in your bones than calcium and all other minerals combined.
Q: What are the main perks of the four different Multi Collagen Capsule supplements?
A: All four formulas offer a blanket of support, including things like:
Improves exercise recovery by 56 percent
Reduces joint discomfort rapidly (by day 7), continuously (by day 30) and persistently (by day 90)
Reduces collagen degradation with noticeable results in as little as three days
But to help health seekers hone in the area of support they need most, we utilized specific botanicals, minerals and superfoods to create functional support in the areas of joint health and mobility, beauty and sleep, and “Gut Restore.”
Collagen helps keep our skin firm and elastic, but as early as our 20s, the body’s natural collagen product starts dropping off, sometimes by up to 1 percent each year — and that shortfall adds up.
Proven benefits of Beauty + Sleep Capsules:
Improves appearance of crow’s feet after 28 days
Promotes better skin tone after 8 weeks
Reduces hair breakage while promoting thicker hair and healthy nails
Promotes more restful sleep so you can get your glow on
Contains a clinically studied dream team of botanicals for healthy skin elasticity
Proven benefits of Joint + Mobility Capsules:
Exercise-related joint discomfort eases up as early as day 1
Reduces exercise-induced joint stiffness by day 5
Proven to rapidly reduce joint discomfort as early as day 7
Shown to improve exercise recovery by 56%
Improves flexibility
Did you know that the gut and gut bacteria interact with parts of the nervous system along varied pathways, including the enteric nervous system — the “brain in the gut” — as well as via the vagus nerve?
Clearly, taking care of the gut helps take care of your body as a whole. And since collagen is part of your gut lining, it’s important to keep a consistent intake as part of your healthy diet.
Proven benefits of Gut Restore Capsules:
Reduces occasional diarrhea, constipation, gas and bloating
Promotes healthy digestive function
Supports a healthy population of probiotics and microflora in the gut
Helps reduce collagen degradation with noticeable results in as little as 3 days
If the functional caps above aren’t speaking to your needs, I recommend Ancient Nutrition’s original collagen capsules formula that delivers a wide spectrum of benefits.
Multi Collagen Capsules Original is proven to …
Support healthy skin, nails and joints
Support joint comfort and healthy joint flexibility
Support recovery after exercise
Support healthy cartilage maintenance
Enhance a sense of well-being
Boost energy and reduce fatigue
Promote mental clarity and concentration
Q: How are these collagen capsules different from other collagen capsule brands on the market?
A: Ancient Nutrition Multi Collagen Capsules are the ONLY collagen supplements that use fermentation to create peptides instead of heat, acid, chemicals or industrial enzymes.
The fermented collagen in Multi Collagen Capsules is produced using microorganisms that “pre-digest” collagen concentrate, making it highly soluble and easy-to-absorb. This process makes the lesser amount of collagen peptides in a serving of capsules (compared to a collagen powder) both extremely effective and efficient.
That's why the fermented collagen peptides in our Multi Collagen Capsules offer up to an estimated five to 20x greater impact (by weight) than typical hydrolyzed collagen peptides, resulting in a faster and greater rate of absorption and rapid and longer-lasting benefits.
