Question 1

What is the complete list of vitamins and minerals in this women’s prenatal multivitamin supplement?

Accepted Answer

Vitamin A (Beta-Carotene) Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that comes from two sources: preformed retinoids and provitamin A carotenoids. These retinoids are found in animal sources such as eggs, liver and dairy products like whole milk, while provitamin A carotenoids come from colorful plant foods like fruits and vegetables. Beta-carotene typically leads the pack in most efficiently making retinol, a pre-formed, active form of vitamin A. Probiotic-Fermented Vitamin C Found mostly in fruits and vegetables, this essential vitamin is known for its powerful antioxidant properties and for its general benefits for supporting a healthy response to stress.† Probiotic-Fermented Vitamin D3 Vitamin D plays a role in up to 2,000 genes and in every single tissue and cell of the body, yet 75 percent of American teens and adults don’t get enough. The immune-supporting vitamin D3 in this formulation is your body’s preferred form compared to vitamin D2. Natural Vitamin E A fat-soluble vitamin with many important processes in the body, this bioavailable, natural vitamin E also functions as an antioxidant. Vitamin K (MK-7) Vitamin K belongs to compounds called naphthoquinones and that includes vitamins K1, K2 and K3. Overall, vitamin K plays a strong role in bones and normal bone metabolism. Vitamin K2 also generally functions to ensure calcium gets to the right places in the body, such as the bones and teeth and not in the arteries or brain. Generally speaking, vitamin K2 also functions to activate at least three proteins in osteoblasts, the cells that generate bone, while inhibiting the breaking down of bone. Vitamin K2 occurs in several forms, but two primary types are menaquinone-4 (MK-4) and menaquinone-7 (MK-7). MK-7 is a preferred form of vitamin K2. Fermented and Coenzymated B vitamins B vitamins serve as essential helpers in the conversion of food to energy. And while they do not directly provide that energy, they do assist the process. In fact, the vitamin B complex includes eight water-soluble vitamins: thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, folate, vitamin B-12, biotin and pantothenic acid. This well-rounded vitamin B complex offers individual health benefits but work together in several ways. B vitamins are also water-soluble, so they need to be replenished often (if not every day) through diet and/or supplementation. The vitamin B-12 in Ancient Multi Prenatal is in the preferred methylcobalamin form, the form that’s typically the easiest for the body to use. Ancient Multi Prenatal features a patented form of methylated folate. Why is folate so important? It’s one of the B vitamins and functions to support the proper production and maintenance of new cells. It’s especially important during times of rapid cell division and growth — like during pregnancy and fetal development. Why methylated folate? Methylated folate is considered the natural, active form of folate that the human body uses. Calcium An organic source of calcium derived from organic, U.S.-produced eggshells, this form of calcium is body-friendly. Iron Traditionally a blood-building mineral, iron used in supplements sometimes tends to trigger digestive distress. Luckily, this formula utilizes iron that’s gentle on the digestive tract. Iodine Our iodine is derived from an enzymatic process which bonds amino acids to minerals: chelation. Chelated minerals, such as our iodine, generally have easier absorption rates. Magnesium One of the most crucial minerals, magnesium is involved in more than 300 biochemical functions in the body, such as regulating heartbeat rhythms and helping neurotransmitter functions. Enzyme-Activated Zinc An essential mineral that’s second only to iron in its concentration in the body, zinc is often referred to as the “intelligence mineral.” Functionally, the liver also needs zinc in sufficient amounts so it can mobilize and release stored vitamin A into the bloodstream. Fermented Selenium An essential mineral to support thyroid health†, selenium is an important mineral in supporting women’s overall health. Manganese As an essential nutrient that’s usually tied to iron and other minerals, manganese plays a role in numerous chemical processes, including synthesis of nutrients like cholesterol, carbohydrates and proteins. Chromium A hard and brittle metal, chromium is a trace mineral needed by the body.

Question 2

What is the complete list of superfoods in Ancient Multi Prenatal?

Accepted Answer

Organic Ginger Root Extract Considered a warming wellness spice treasured by pregnant women, ginger extract is packed with antioxidants and therapeutic compounds like gingerol, shogaol, paradol and zingerone. Organic Cinnamon Bark Extract One of the longest-used spices in human history, cinnamon bark features cinnamaldehyde, eugenol, and linalool. Our chicken bone broth comes from U.S. sources we trust, while our beef bone broth is derived from Europe. Bovine Liver An ancient nutritional powerhouse, liver is one of the most nutrient dense foods on the planet and typically contains vitamins A, D, B12, B2, B3, B5, B6, omega-3s, iron, folate, zinc and more. This liver from pasture-raised New Zealand cattle is amazing. Wild Hake Roe One of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet, fish eggs are high in phospholipids. Fish eggs are an excellent source of protein and essential fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins. The Omega 3s are often higher in roe than the fish itself. Our wild hake roe is sourced in New Zealand and is Marine Stewardship Council Certified.

Question 3

Who is this product intended for?

Accepted Answer

This product is intended for women in their prime looking for cognitive and energy support† and overall women’s wellness, all in the convenience of a once-a-daily multivitamin. Even if your diet is filled with a variety of whole foods, it may still be difficult to get all the vitamins and minerals your body requires on a daily basis — and low intakes of certain nutrients seem to be a common problem among women, regardless of their age. Among other benefits, this is a multivitamin for women that can help address this issue.

Question 7

Why are prenatal vitamins a good idea?

Accepted Answer

Consider the amazing process of how the brain develops. At conception, 60 percent of genetic energy is dedicated to developing the brain of the growing child, and it only takes off from there. Three to four weeks after conception, neuronal proliferation is at its zenith — 250,000 neurons per minute — a frenzy that results in a whopping 100 billion brain neurons total at the time of birth. These neurons become neatly organized into about 40 differentiated areas that govern language, vision and muscle movement. They’re still immature, largely inactivated and weakly connected to one another, but that soon changes. Almost immediately following birth, the newborn’s brain forms trillions of connections between neurons, which enable the baby to see, hear, smell, learn and reason while inaugurating learning and memory. Brain development continues long after birth, and parts of some neurons continue to grow well into old age, but research indicates that there are specific “windows of opportunity” for brain development. These include 0 to 2 years for emotional development, 0 to 4 years for logic and math, 0 to 10 years for language and 3 to 10 years for music. Did you know the brain seems to favor certain nutrients? Even when in utero, the brain requires proper nourishment. When the embryo is developing its neural tube, the foundation for the brain, skull and spine, folate is a must. Additionally, folate is necessary for making DNA and RNA, the building blocks of cells, including the brain’s cells. B vitamins, including B12, are also crucial. That’s why it’s important to take a quality prenatal multivitamin like Ancient Multi Prenatal Formula, which has a patented form of methylated folate, fermented and co-enzymated B vitamins plus much more.

Question 8

Is supplementation really necessary?

Accepted Answer

For many Americans the diet consumed isn’t nutritionally adequate. In fact, approximately two-thirds of the standard U.S. diet is made up of unhealthy fats and refined sugars with low or no nutrient density — providing calories but not the amounts of vitamins and minerals needed, including vitamins A, B Complex, C, D, E and the minerals calcium, magnesium and zinc. More specifically, typical diets contain less than 80% of the RDA for calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, and manganese—and the people who are most at risk for coming up short on those nutrients are adult women and teenage girls. Here’s the truth: If two-thirds of the standard U.S. diets are coming up short on certain nutrients, then the remaining one-third of the average diet may not be so great, either, and cannot possibly fully meet a person’s nutrient needs. One great way to get more vitamins and minerals into your diet is to include nutrient-dense, real foods. Unlike our Standard American Diet, nutrient-dense foods can deliver a vitamin-packed and mineral-packed wallop. In addition to a nutrient-dense diet, some opt to take a multivitamin to help cover their bases.

Question 9

Why aren’t your products labeled as being “dairy-free” or “nut free"?

Accepted Answer

Our products do not contain dairy, grains, nuts or soy; however, they are manufactured in facilities that may carry these allergens. This being said, all of our manufacturing partners are required to have and follow a thorough Allergen Program. The Allergen Program is to prevent the cross contamination of raw materials and processing of finished goods, where allergens may be present. Simply put, when it comes to our products and our suppliers, we follow industry best practices for full transparency and accuracy concerning our products. Therefore, where applicable for our products, we use the wording “made without dairy" and "made without nuts."

Question 10

Are your products produced in a facility with allergens?

Accepted Answer

We now have a disclaimer that is on ALL of our products: "Produced on equipment that may also process peanuts, tree nuts, milk, soybean, wheat, sesame, shellfish, fish, egg." This is a voluntary disclaimer and our formulations have not changed. Our manufacturers are required to have Policies and Procedures in place when it comes to handling and processing allergens. These allergen programs are in place to prevent cross contamination after each run by proper cleaning procedures. Allergen swab testing is also done after running an allergen containing product. We test finished products for allergens prior to designating as “Free” of. We also follow cGMP (current good manufacturing practices) which helps maintain allergen segregation.

Question 11

I received a bottle that looks different than what I saw online. Did the formula change?

Accepted Answer
